3-D Secure authentication for card payments
About the identity check (3-D Secure) performed when paying by credit card.
Last updated: July 12, 2026
When you pay for a card by credit card, your card issuer may require identity verification (3-D Secure).
What is 3-D Secure?
It's an identity check that helps prevent fraud. Your card issuer may ask you to enter a one-time password or approve the payment in an authenticator app.
Steps
- Pay by credit card (see Buy a card and pay).
- When your card issuer's authentication screen appears, follow the instructions to authenticate.
- Once authenticated, the payment is confirmed.
If it doesn't work
If authentication fails, check with your card issuer. You can also pay with a different card or with crypto.
